Accredited Building Certifiers (ABC) P/L was first formed in July 1999 with the inception of Legislation by the State Government that allowed private certification of building work.
Prior to this, the Councils were the only authority who could approve and inspect building work.
The legislation enabled private certifiers to provide an alternative means of gaining a building approval and carrying out inspections.
Since inception, the Company has issued more than 5,000 construction certificates and complying development certificates and has carried out more than 20,000 inspections.
The company has carried out certification work throughout the following Council areas –
Wollongong City Council, Shellharbour City Council, Kiama Municipal Council, Shoalhaven City Council, Eurabadalla, Shire Council, Wingecarribee Council, Wollondilly Shire Council, Newcastle City Council, Maitland City Council, LakeMacquarieCity Council, Cessnock City Council, Various other sydney councils and shires.
We have a network of certifiers available in all areas who can assist in the certification process.
Ron Moore
The Company founder Ron Moore is now one of Accredited Building Certifiers three Directors.
Ron previously worked as a Senior Building Surveyor at Fairfield City Council from 1970 until 1988 then at Kiama Council until 1999. He has a broad knowledge of building and construction regulations and has qualifications in Fire Engineering having obtained a Masters Diploma in Fire Safety Design at the University of Western Sydney.
Ron is accredited as a Level 1 certifier under the Government Accreditation Scheme and can issue construction certificates for any class of building & size.
Adam Moate
In January 2006 Adam Moate and Steven Witheridge became Directors after previously working as Senior Building Surveyors at various local government Councils.
Adam commenced his career as a Building Surveyor in local government in 1990 at Sutherland Shire Council. Over the next 15 years Adam worked at Campbelltown, Kiama and Wollongong City Council.
During this period he gained extensive knowledge and experience of local government processes and maintains a healthy working relationship with these and other Councils.
Adam currently holds a Diploma in Environmental Science and has continued to increase his knowledge by attending applicable professional related training.
Steve Witheridge
In 1992 after gaining his Degree in Applied Science (Environmental Health) Steven commenced his career at Mudgee Shire Council, followed by ShoalhavenCity, Wingecarribee Shire and Wollongong City Council.
During his employment Steven continued his study obtaining a Graduate Diploma in Business in 1994.
Together Ron, Adam & Steven form a professional, dedicated team they possess an array of qualified knowledge supported by extensive working experience.
We would like to welcome Paul Russell who has come on board as of 1st July 2008. Paul will be working in the Newcastle/Central Coast areas
